Enjoy a recording of our special evening of conversation with Rachel Kushner, an Oregon-born novelist known for her hard-as-nails, toughly insightful, and often fun novels. You can still purchase a copy of this captivating conversation for $5! Throughout her career, Kushner has won many prizes, including the Prix Médicis, and she has been a finalist for the Booker Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Folio Prize, the James Tait Black Prize, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. Finally, she was twice a finalist for the National Book Award in Fiction.

Kushner shared insights into her personal and artistic development and successes, discussing the evolution of her writing as well as elucidating her most recent work, Creation Lake, an espionage drama set amongst a group of French radical environmentalists. 

According to The Guardian, Kushner is “one of the century’s great American novelists,” and regarding Creation Lake, it is “her most entertaining novel yet.”

Kushner’s books have been translated into twenty-seven languages. Her fiction has been published in The New Yorker and The Paris Review, and her nonfiction in Harpers and the New York Times Magazine
